What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear “self-care”?

Bubble baths? 🛀

Fancy massages? 💆‍♀️

Expensive vacations? 🍹

Whatever it is, it probably sounds comfortable and simple.

But the truth is that most of these nice-sounding activities don’t have a significant impact on our lives.

It’s tough conversations and challenging situations that force us to step out of our comfort zones and help us be more confident.

If you want to take better care of yourself and grow into your best version, you need to do this:

Change what you consume — inside and out
Just like your body is shaped by the food you eat, your mind is shaped by the content you consume.

If you want to have more energy, look better, feel better, be healthier, and have a calmer mind, you must stop eating, watching, and reading crap. 🗑

Instead, you want to nourish your body with high-quality foods and your mind with high-quality content.

Just like the health levels of a person solely eating fries and pizza will be horrible, the mind of a person watching traditional news and scrolling through typical news feeds will be full of anxiety, doubt, and hate.

The bad news is, you can’t detach your body from your mind.

You could work out five times per week, drink green smoothies, follow a plant-based diet, and still feel miserable if you can’t deal with the shit going on in your head.

The good news is that your body and mind always support each other.

Moving your body isn’t just good for your waistline but also for your ability to focus and solve complex problems.

Meditation doesn’t only help you be more calm, but it also helps you be more aware of your body.

Your entire life is shaped by the things and people you’re surrounded by.

There’s no harm in eating fried food now and then, but if you do it all the time, you’ll feel bad.

There’s no harm in reading the news to be informed on what’s happening around the world, but if you try to stay up to date all the time, you’ll lose your sanity.

Guard your body and mind because they’re the foundation of anything else in your life.

Remove the junk and focus on nourishing yourself through foods and ideas that help you feel better instead of worse.

I know that you have lots to do, but I want you to add one small task to your weekly to-do list: Each week, do one thing that makes you feel a little uncomfortable.

Most of the time, we procrastinate on important tasks.

> Maybe that’s making a phone call you’ve been delaying for too long. 📲

> Maybe it’s cleaning your email inbox, so you get rid of all the unread messages and gain some clarity. 📨

> Maybe it’s about finally taking care of your finances and starting to invest a part of your income. 💸

> Maybe it’s a visit to the dentist. 🦷

> Or maybe it’s canceling that stupidly expensive gym membership you’ve been paying for but never making use of. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We all hate doing these things even though we know they’re necessary and important.

Trying to tackle too many of those annoying tasks at once might feel overwhelming, but completing one of them per week is easy.

If you get used to doing just one thing you don’t feel like doing, you’ll slowly reclaim your power.
